ONL002 - Become a LocavoreONL002 – Become a Locavore

This show focuses on the steps to become a Locavore. Locavores try to only buy food grown within a small radius of where they live, usually 50 to 150 miles.

I improved the audio in this weeks episode but I still have some learning to do. This weeks lesson was about reducing background noise. (we need chairs that dont make noise as we move around.)

The word locavore was chosen as the 2007 Word of the Year by the New Oxfords American Dictionary. [source: Oxford Dictionary ]. To read more check out this wikipedia link; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Locavore

To join the locavore movement, follow these simple steps;

  • Grow your own food, even on your deck! (a teaser for our next show)
  • Join a CSA Join a food cooperative.
  • Patronize local farmers at local farmers markets
  • Eat seasonally
  • Preserve the seasonal harvest for future use.
  • Patronize restaurants that serve locally grown food.

Resources you can use to find local farms and like minded people.
