Do you and your family drink fresh raw milk from your local farmer for health and nutrition? Jon and I do. However, the dairy farmers who produce your favorite beverage are struggling with multiple threats to their business right now. Keep reading for more information.
Nothing riles Jon faster than the government trying to interfere with his right to purchase food directly from the farm.
Every day people endanger their health by consuming all types of processed, GMO, contaminated foods. Many of them are subsidized with our tax dollars. But consumers have the right to eat junk if they so choose. Some of us, however, prefer whole, unprocessed food as God intended. By purchasing directly from the farmer we become co-producers or investors in that food. It is our right to choose and pay for healthy, whole food.
Kimberly Hartke of Hartke Online! just sent out this blog post about raw milk activist Mark Kane winning a small victory while working to protect the rights of people in his community to purchase raw milk. If you’re wondering about the appeal of raw milk, your best source of information can be found here.
California is one of a few states that allows legal bovine dairies to not only operate, but distribute their products in grocery stores. Until recently, Whole Foods throughout the state sold raw milk bottled at Organic Pastures Dairy. Not anymore. Anne Marie Michaels wrote this post last week about the company’s decision to discontinue raw milk sales at all of their stores. However, other stores are picking the product up. You can show your support for Organic Pastures Dairy on their facebook fan page.
One of the best ways to get the word out about healthy food is to watch food documentaries that are not supported by the food industry. To find out whose story is really being told, just follow the money. What better way to get an objective view point than to fund a project at the grass roots level? Well, for the next few days you have the opportunity to pledge a donation to do just that. See how you can help here. It is so easy to pledge $25 or more for this project.
I just wanted to put a quick blog out there to let you know what is happening. If you have raw milk in your refrigerator right now, be sure to thank your local dairy farmer!
