This Week’s Interview with Chris Masterjohn
There is a lot of information and misinformation floating around about cholesterol, lipids, and the role of diet and cholesterol in heart health. How do you sort it all out? It’s vital to do your research and have a basic understanding of your body and the motives of medical authorities so you can weigh the information against that understanding. When I want accurate information NOT from the medical establishment, I defer to experts such Chris Masterjohn, The Weston A. Price Foundation, Al Sears, and others.
In Podcast show #45, Chris spoke to us extensively on the subject of cholesterol, a topic he explores with great knowledge on his website . As the name of his website indicates, cholesterol is essential to health. In the first part of the interview Chris explains its essential role in brain health and the delivery of fat soluble vitamins.
Listen to the interview with Chris on the player below when you are ready or find us on iTunes.

We have a great Podcast this week, and an extended one due to our interview with Chris Masterjohn. Chris is the creator and maintainer of Cholesterol-And-Health.Com , a website dedicated to providing accurate information about cholesterol and cholesterol-rich foods.
He has authored several articles appearing in Wise Traditions in Food, Farming and the Healing Arts – the quarterly journal published by the Weston A. Price Foundation . His most recent article is in the Spring, 2009 edition.
Chris has also authored two items in peer-reviewed journals. The first is a letter published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology criticizing the conclusions of a study on saturated fat. The second is full-length article in a 2007 issue of the journal Medical Hypothese s in which he proposes a molecular mechanism of vitamin D toxicity.
He is currently a graduate student at the University of Connecticut, pursuing a PhD in Nutritional Science with a specialty in Biochemical and Molecular Nutrition. I predict that we will be hearing much more about Chris and his research in the future.

In podcast #42 we interview Heather Tubbs, owner of Truly Healthy Baby . In her business, she consults with families regarding healthy eating and how to keep a healthy, non-toxic home. Heather teaches classes in the Atlanta area and is selling pre-orders of her new book, Raising Baby O , that will be released in June. Heather tells the story of how she grew up eating whole natural foods. When she moved from California to Georgia and needed support to continue that lifestyle, she discovered the Weston A. Price Foundation . By networking with the Atlanta chapter, she found sources for the raw milk that was so essential to her diet. As Cathy discussed with Sally Fallon Morrell in our last podcast , Heather is providing the kinds of advice and services traditionally offered by elders in the village, tribe, or community. In today’s society of isolated nuclear families, this kind of support can be very reassuring and helpful to new parents.
